Oakridge Update
It's not too late to pick your own strawberries, but the end is near! We will be open for picking Sunday, June 17th from 7am-2pm. Beyond that we are taking things day by day. Please call ahead to confirm that we are still picking, before making the trip. The price is 1.45/# and we accept cash or check only.
There are plenty of beautiful berries in the field, but at the end of the season berry size is smaller. The wagons will run based on the # of people picking. If a wagon ride is an important part of a visit to the farm, please call ahead!
A starting date for PYO raspberries has NOT been determined. Unlike strawberries, we do NOT pick in the rain and we do get "picked out". Raspberries are a more sensitive crop than strawberries, so picking days and times are subject to change. Raspberry picking will be limited this year as the unusual spring weather resulted in substantial cane injury. The early March heat wave forced the raspberry plants out of dormancy early, a cold snap followed and the plants were damaged. We will keep you posted.
The extremes in weather have presented us with many challenges this year and at times we felt that the odds were stacked against many of our crops, we can only control so much! This is a humbling experience as young farmers and we are constantly evaluating how we can be better at what we do. Despite the challenges, we feel that we have had a very sucessful strawberry season. We love seeing familiar faces return and welcoming new customers.
Thank you for your support of local farmers!
