Oakridge Farms-Fffffrost!

Posted 9/15/2011 3:34pm by Jodi Leslie.
As one of my farmer friends likes to say, "the weather people are saying the 'f' word".  For us that means "frost" and it means rapid changes and a sense of panic.  Yes the growing season always comes to end sometime between now and early October, but the panic is still there. Did we can enough tomatoes, freeze enough corn, pickle enough beans....and what are we going to eat now???

We were touched by frost last night and it looks like it will be a harder frost tonight...watermelon, cantaloupe,  tomatoes (including many hierloom varieties), sweet corn, green beans, yellow beans and peppers will be available while supplies last.

We have a great selection of pumpkins this year~all sizes and varieties~pie pumpkins, mini pumpkins, decorative gourds and beautiful heirlooms for eating or decorating.  We also have winter squash, onions, garlic and potatoes.  Our own honey crisp apples are also starting to sweeten up but are not quite ready!

We are still open 7 days a week at out CB Farmstand - M-F 9-5:30, Sa-Su 9-4 - and will be until furthur notice.

Please see our web site for food preservation resources.
